Overview
The Shark APEX full-sized upright vacuum delivers Shark’s ultimate cleaning experience. It is equipped with Shark DuoClean technology, which grabs large particles, pulls in piles, and directly engages hard floors for a beautiful, polished look. Using its Lift-Away feature gives you the ability to detach the pod and clean under furniture and above-floor areas with the push of a button.
It also introduces the Zero-M self-cleaning brushroll to deliver nonstop hair removal for long hair, short hair, and pet hair from the brushroll, so you don’t have to pick off hair yourself. The LED lights on the handle and floor nozzle provide visibility in dark spaces, and for spotlighting hidden debris. With its Advanced Anti-Allergen Complete Seal, dust and allergens are trapped inside the vacuum to give you a clean home.

Useful Features: The Shark APEX vacuum comes with many convenient options to help you achieve a cleaning like never before. Its Dual Brushroll System penetrates carpets for a deep-clean and delivers a polished look on hard floors. With its Zero-M technology, the Shark APEX vacuum actively removes hair wrapped from the brushroll, so you don’t have to.
Powered Lift-Away: With its power-lift feature, the Shark APEX vacuum’s canister is removable so that you can extend your reach with a motorized brush or clean above-floor. It also provides three ways to clean; aside from the Powered Lift-Away Mode, it also has Upright Mode which allows for robust floor and carpet cleaning, and Above-Floor Mode to give you heightened portability with a detachable canister.
Ultimate Cleaning Experience: Aside from providing a thorough cleaning, the Shark APEX vacuum goes the extra mile by including an Advanced Anti-Allergen Complete Seal Technology with a HEPA filter to absorb not just dirt and dust, but also to get rid of air pollutants, so you never have to worry about allergies.
The Bad
The Shark APEX vacuum puts up an excellent performance and gives us more than a thorough clean in our homes, but because of a few slip-ups in terms of its design, this vacuum isn’t at the top of its competition. Its mistakes are evident in the Zero-M brushroll, which tends to get hair and fur wrapped around it. Because of this problem, the product isn’t able to live up to its promise of having anti-tangle properties.
Another aspect that fails to impress is the company’s customer service. With its 7-year warranty, you would expect that it means you’re safe from paying any additional fees. However, some parts aren’t included in the Shark APEX vacuum’s warranty. This means that depending on the part you break, it may cost you more than the $350 it cost in the first place.
The Bottom Line
The Shark APEX vacuum completely misses the mark with its supposedly easy-to-use feature of the Zero-M brushroll. Not only does it fail in delivering its promise of no tangle, but it can also make the problem worse. However, it does redeem itself in its performance as it provides the powerful cleaning it boasts.
If you are looking for a deep-clean for your carpets and a polished look for your floors, then the Shark APEX vacuum is the vacuum for you. Despite its serious errors, it packs many other excellent features that help to make cleaning much more comfortable and more manageable. And while their customer service isn’t top-notch, the product speaks for itself once it gets to work in your home.
