The Good

Our review of the Schlage Z-Wave Connect Camelot Touchscreen Deadbolt put this smart lock through its paces. Let’s take a look at some of the best features of the Schlage Z-Wave Connect Camelot Touchscreen Deadbolt…

Connectivity and Compatibility:

Z-Wave technology allows you to monitor your home from wherever you may be. If you forget to turn off your lights or unlock the front door for your housekeeper, Z-Wave lets you do those things remotely, right from your laptop or smartphone. It also supports a wide range of leading household brands, making it a powerful tool to manage your home — it supports thermostats, lighting, locks, small appliances, and even cameras.

Flexible Technology:

The Schlage Z-Wave Connect Camelot Touchscreen Deadbolt is extendable, just add devices to your network over time as your needs grow and change. It also gives you an entirely new level of control and convenience, making you feel as though you’re always home. Schlage Connect lets you have a keyless lock, so you don’t have to carry a bulky keychain or worry about losing your keys. Press the Schlage button for the motorized deadbolt to lock the door and then use your code to unlock when you get home.

Access For Your Family and Friends:

With the Schlage Z-Wave Connect Camelot Touchscreen Deadbolt, each member of the family can have their own 4-digit code that is easy to remember. If you have relatives visiting, you can program a temporary code for their stay, and when they leave, you can delete the code from the lock. All the programming can be done on the keypad, so there’s no need to remove the lock from the door. And with its home monitoring capability, you can receive alerts on your phone when people come and go.

The Bad

Unfortunately, for some customers, they have concluded that the Schlage Z-Wave Connect Camelot Touchscreen Deadbolt can not work in places where the humidity is high. Each time the product was used, the keypad would stop working as it was full of water inside the battery pack and circuit board, even if it hadn’t rained. While the lock was quite useful when it would work, the customer thought that there were too many design flaws, as it absorbs condensation to build inside the lock and fries the electronics.

Another flaw with this product is how the app doesn’t connect to the lock, and how its reviews on the play store support these claims. Many customers have been disappointed by an app that doesn’t work, as it can’t pair with anything aside from a Samsung Smart Hub. However, you can’t set up anything from the hub, so you’ll be forced to download the terrible Schlage app.

The Bottom Line

The Schlage Z-Wave Connect Camelot Touchscreen Deadbolt may have delivered an excellent smart lock for some customers, but not all are convinced by its performance, primarily because of its flaws. However, its robust features are enough for us to overlook the mistakes within its design and systems, and its added convenience is another excellent addition to our homes.

In the end, the Schlage Z-Wave Connect Camelot Touchscreen Deadbolt would have been the top smart lock if it wasn’t for its poorly designed app. We can only hope that the company will fix this problem in the future and listen to the feedback from us, the consumers, so they can provide us with a smart lock that ticks all the boxes. Because at the moment, charging $160 for a product that doesn’t fulfill everything we need can’t be considered a good purchase.
