Robust antivirus protection from a well-established cybersecurity company. Lifetime virus-free device guarantee. Stellar customer support and a variety of pricing options.
Norton’s antivirus software is a leading program for cybersecurity worldwide. They’ve been around for decades and are a sister company to Symantec Corporation. Norton has become known for putting their customers first, with fast and reliable protection.
Norton Antivirus defends against viruses, malware, spyware, ransomware, and other online threats. Over the past 25 years, it’s become one of the most popular digital security options on the market. Norton Antivirus comes in a variety of protection levels, with multiple pricing options.
Norton provides antivirus protection for PCs, Macs, and Android and Apple smartphones.
Norton has several virus protection products that were made to keep your device safe from cyber attacks. The following are some of our favorite Norton antivirus software features.
Advanced Protection: Unlike other antivirus software, Norton’s products are constantly being updated with the latest information about the newest digital dangers. Norton Antivirus keeps your devices safe from common threats like the Trojan horse virus, as well as more advanced malware like computer worms.
Global Threat Monitoring: Norton has a global network of more than 175 users and cybersecurity experts. That means they find out about the latest threats to your digital security before cyber-criminals can even get a foot in the virtual door. You can rest easy knowing that Norton is proactively protecting your privacy and devices.
Real-Time Scanning: Instead of worrying about having to deal with a security breach after it happens, Norton Antivirus helps you to prevent cyber-attacks from happening at all. Your device is scanned in real time to make sure nothing malicious is lurking in your files or programs.
Customizable Security: Norton antivirus products come with a clean and simple user interface, where you can track your device’s security status with fully customizable settings to fit your needs. You can also choose to customize your security scans by setting a schedule and picking the areas of your device you want to be checked for threats.
Smart Firewall: Norton not only protects your computer, but it also keeps your home network secure with their Smart Firewall feature. This improved version of a traditional firewall monitors both incoming and outgoing network communications to ensure there isn’t any unauthorized use of your wi-fi or any unsecured access points.
Norton offers a variety of pricing options and comes with a free 30-day trial to help you decide if it’s the right antivirus software for your needs.
Norton AntiVirus Basic: This plan is a good choice if you have a single computer and want just the basics in digital security. Norton AntiVirus Basic provides essential protection against viruses and 24/7 threat monitoring for 1 PC and it’s just $29.99 a year.
Norton Security Standard: This plan provides the same important protection against viruses, malware, spyware, and ransomware as Norton AntiVirus Basic. But it opens coverage and 24/7 threat monitoring up to 1 PC, Mac, or mobile device for only $39.99 a year.
Norton Security Deluxe: With this protection plan, you get all the great benefits we’ve already mentioned, plus coverage for multiple devices with one low annual subscription. You also get added security while shopping online and access to a handy web portal where you can monitor all of your connected devices. Norton Security Deluxe is a great value at $49.99 a year and it protects up to 5 PCs, Macs, or Apple and Android smartphones.
Norton Security Premium: If you and your family have a lot of computers and mobile devices, this plan is by far your best value. You get all the same coverage that you’ll find in Norton Security Deluxe, plus automatic file backups and access to Norton’s secure cloud storage. Norton Security Premium covers up to 10 PCs, Macs, or Apple and Android mobile devices for the low annual cost of $54.99.
Please Note: All products are listed at lower introductory pricing for new customers.
As with all of our editor reviews, we put Norton Antivirus through its paces, so you don’t have to waste your own time. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite Norton benefits…
Lifetime Virus-Free Guarantee
Norton backs up every one of their antivirus products with a full money-back guarantee. If your device manages to get infected, even with the stellar protection of Norton Antivirus, the company will refund your purchase, no questions asked. And their Virus Protection Promise is good for the lifetime of your subscription!
24/7 Expert Assistance
You can get support whenever you need it with the purchase of any Norton product. The company promises always-there support, whether you need expert advice or have a simple question. You can reach a Norton representative by phone, email, or live chat 24 hours a day.
If you decide to go with Norton Security Premium for your PC, you’ll get the added benefit of automatic backups for all of your files, photos, and music. Keeping your important documents in a secure place like the Norton cloud is a great way to make sure they don’t get lost and can’t be accessed by hackers.
25 GB of Cloud Storage
Another benefit for PC users that choose Norton Security Premium is a whopping 25 GB of cloud storage. You can keep your computer running faster than ever by moving files and photos from your hard drive to the Norton cloud. And you can also rest easy knowing they’re much more secure than they would be on your computer’s desktop.
While we were very impressed by almost everything Norton has to offer, we did notice that they offer much less protection for Mac OS devices than they do PCs. That means if you’re an Apple lover, you might want to go with a more Mac-friendly option like Intrusta Antivirus.
Norton also limits their online protection services to Chrome and Firefox, which was a bit disappointing, but the other included digital security features made us think twice about scoffing at not being able to surf on Safari or Microsoft Edge.
