Medical Care Alert was founded in 2008 in Michigan. Initially, the company was in the home security systems industry but soon moved over to personal emergency response solutions. It offers two U.S. based call centers which reside in California and New York.
All Medical Care Alert agents in their call centers are EMT certified. This way, they can address calls on a per situation basis and don’t have to rely on a script to help users. It also means those using Medical Care Alert get a personalized, genuine experience when medical issues arise.
Medical Care Alert offers a variety of monitoring services and equipment to older adults that want to stay in their homes. The following are some of our favorite ways that Medical Care Alert provides emergency monitoring to those living with medical conditions or ailments.
AufoFall Technology: WIth Medical Care Alert’s AutoFall technology, you don’t have to worry about pressing a button to let someone know you’ve fallen. This feature can detect on its own when a change in height occurs and will immediately connect you to the Medical Care Alert monitoring center.
SMS Contact Notifications: In the event an emergency occurs, you want your loved ones to know what’s going on. With Medical Care Alert, an SMS text message is automatically sent to those on your contact list if an ambulance is sent to your home.
2-Way Voice: Every Medical Care Alert device offers 2-way voice capabilities so you can be connected with their monitoring center in the event of an emergency. Through the speakers and the onboard microphone, you can hear the representative clearly, just like they can hear you.
Waterproof Devices: Just because you don’t get around as easily as you used to doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy an afternoon at the pool. With Medical Care Alert, you don’t have to worry about your safety while swimming since all their devices are waterproof.
Medical Care Alert offers a variety of medical monitoring pricing plans to allow older adults to safely remain in their own homes. To help you decide if it’s the right medical alert service for you, Medical Care Alert offers a risk-free 14-day trial. If you’re not satisfied, simply return the system for a full refund.
Home System: The Medical Care Alert Home System includes a base unit that has a two-way speakerphone. Through the speakerphone, you can communicate directly with the monitoring center. You’ll also get an alert pendant to use in case of an emergency. The Home System from Medical Care Alert is $27.45 a month.
Home & Yard System: This Medical Care Alert plan is perfect for those that have larger yards or homes. It comes with a pendant, which lets you talk to the monitoring center whenever you need assistance. Just push the button on the pendant. The Home & Yard System from Medical Care Alert is $32.04 a month.
Home & Away System: For those that prefer to venture out beyond their home and yard, the Home & Away System just might fit the bill. This plan uses AT&T’s cellular service, which means you can go anywhere you want. Built-in GPS technology lets first responders determine your exact location. The Home & Away System from Medical Care Alert is $36.62 per month.
As with all of our editor reviews, we put Medical Care Alert through its paces, so you don’t have to waste your time or money. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite Medical Care Alert monitoring service benefits…
EMT Certified Call Agents
When an emergency occurs you want to talk to someone knowledgeable and capable of handling the situation. Medical Care Alert’s operators are all experts in the healthcare field and have been EMT certified. This means you’ll have the peace of mind that comes with speaking to a person who can respond to any situation with grace under pressure and sensitive to your needs and situation.
With Medical Care Alert, you’ll always have service whenever you need it. The company partners with AT&T for its cellular service, so you don’t have to worry about low service or blackout areas if you’re on-the-go. Medical Care Alert is always available no matter where you go or where you live.
One big reason we like Medical Care Alert is that you can cancel at any time and the company requires no long-term commitments. There are no cancellation fees, no setup fees, and no activation fees. With Medical Care Alert, what you see is what you get. Once you select your plan, that’s all you’ll ever pay.
Multiple Person Support
Medical Care Alert allows for monitoring of multiple people at the same residence. You won’t get charged for the extra person on a monthly basis. However, there will be the one-time cost of purchasing an additional pendant. This gives each person their own medical alert button since Medical Care Alert recommends that users don’t share.
For the Home System, the pendant included with the plan doesn’t have great range. It would be nice if the device extended a little further. However, both of the other Medical Care Alert plans provide you with 3G wireless coverage almost anywhere in the United States. If the range of distance is an issue, users can always move up to the next plan level.
While Medical Care Alert does not offer a mobile application, it does offer SMS notifications when an emergency occurs. When setting up the system with Medical Care Alert, you should take the time to ensure that the appropriate contacts are listed, so that when situations arise, the right people are alerted.
